Open Forum in Dallas to Address Cultural Barriers in Getting Services

TCDD News

The Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities is holding an open forum in Dallas about cultural barriers people with disabilities faced when accessing or attempting to access services and supports.

The forum will be held:

Wednesday, May 2, 2012, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Sheraton Downtown Dallas Hotel, 400 N. Olive Street
Majestic I Room, 37th Floor

We are especially interested in hearing from people who are “unserved or underserved” and their families, partners, professionals and others who help support them. We also hope to hear about experiences related to accessing and receiving services in a manner responsive to the beliefs, language and behaviors of African American, Native American, Latino and Asian people with disabilities. Although the Council may not be able to address all of the needs identified during the event, the input will help guide our future efforts to set priorities.

Call (800) 262-0334 for more details on this event, including attendance, accommodations and interpreters . Casual attire is encouraged.
