Electronic Visit Verification Expands, Addresses Accessibility Concerns

The Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services continues to expand the Electronic Visit Verification system across Texas while addressing concerns regarding Consumer Directed Services and accessibility. This telephone and computer-based system documents the time when service providers start and complete attendant care or similar services, such as respite, in an individual’s home.

EVV is currently required for attendant-like services under six programs in five of the 11 DADS regions. It will expand into two more areas by Nov. 15, 2012: Region 5 (Beaumont, Nacogdoches, Jasper and the surrounding areas) and Region 6 (Houston, Conroe, Bay City and the surrounding areas).

To address concerns regarding people in CDS Option, DADS allowed these individuals to choose their level of participation in EVV as of June 1. People who use assistive technology and have trouble accessing any EVV materials can call the company operating the program, Sandata Customer Service, toll-free at (855) 781-2079.
